APPLE'N PEAR BERRY PIE
PASTRY
2 9-INCH TENDERFLAKE All Vegetable Shortening Frozen Deep Dish Pie Shells
FILLING
2 Medium tart apples,peeled and sliced
1 medium pear,peeled and sliced
1 cup fresh or frozen cranberries (250ml)
3/4 cup granulated sugar (175ml)
3 tbsp MONARCH or PURITY flour (45ml)
1/2 tsp grated orange rind (2ml)
DIRECTIONS: Prepare pie shells according to package directions for a DOUBLE CRUST PIE. Combine filling ingredients; mixing well. Spoon into pie shell. Cover with second pie shell; seal and flute edge. Cut steam vents on top*. Place on baking sheet and bake in preheated 425 F even for 15 minutes. Reduce heat to 350 F and continue to bake for 35-40 minutes.
Serves 6-8 servings
*For top crust variation, use cookie cutters and cut out pastry shapes from the second pie shell. Place on top of filling before baking.
